George St.Pierre Takes On Matt Hughes

George St.Pierre is set to take on Matt Hughes this weekend, in what no doubt will be the biggest MMA event in history.  Will George "Rush" demolish Matt again?  I'm hoping so.  Even fans of Matt Hughes can't be impressed by his comments of late.   Matt Hughes publicly stated that one of the main reasons for taking the fight against George "Rush" St.Pierre was because St.Pierre would not have ample time to train and could take advantage of him.  Don't most fighters want to fight the best fighters and not want to take easy fights just to get a win?  Shows Matt's character that's for sure.

Let's be honest for a moment, Matt Hughes will always be a legend, but father time is catching up with him quickly.  With true MMA fighters now coming up like George St.Pierre, there is no room for one sided fighters like Matt Hughes.  I will be very surprised if George St.Pierre lets Matt take him down at all in this fight.  Standing, George St.Pierre wins hands down, nobody can deny that.  On the ground, its close, it will all matter on positioning.

It's hard to see Matt coming out of this fight the victor, but in MMA, you never know!  I will be cheering for George "Rush" St.Pierre!

Tune in at 8PM CST to Spike TV!  Tonight's match ups could produce the best UFC of the year.  Pride champion Dan Henderson defends his Pride Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Championship Belts against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, who defends the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship!  Who will be victorious in tonight's match ups?

Dan Henderson vs. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

This will be a tough fight to call, but I am predicting Dan Henderson to walk away with the win, as long as his mental game is in check.  His wife just had a baby last week (Congratulations Dan!), therefore, there could be a few other things on his mind.  However, Quinton Rampage is just not at the same level as Dan Henderson.  It's really a matter of technician vs. brutal power and attack, and I give my vote to technician.  Also, Dan Henderson is no slouch in the power division.  Some might say he has more strength than even Rampage.  Dan Henderson will win in this fight, unifying the  Pride and UFC Titles.

Michael Bisping vs. Matt Hamill

Michael Bisping will win via KO either first or second round.  This one could be quick, keep your eyes glued to the television!

Mirko Filipovic vs. Cheick Kongo

Mirko "Cro Cop" will win this one, however it will be tough fight.  Cro Cop badly needs a win here, and I believe he will get it via knockout.  Some are predicting a long drawn out fight, however, KO by Cro Cop

Houston Alexander vs. Alessio Sakara

This will get the night rocking.  Houstin Alexander is going to destroy Alessio Sakara.  Sorry Alessio, but Houston is just going to completely overpower you.

UFC 66: Liddell vs Ortiz 2

Don't miss the action tonight as Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell takes on the former UFC Champion "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz!

The last time these two fighters met, Chuck hit Tito with a poke in the eye that should have been a stoppage.  However, it was not to be, and as Tito tried to wipe his eye clean, The Iceman landed blow after blow on Tito's face, causing a stoppage.

For those that do not follow the UFC, The Ultimate Fighting Championship's popularity experienced its best year ever in 2006.  Two reality television shows were done this year, as well as "Ultimate Fight Night" was introduced on Spike TV.  Today marks an extremely important night, as tonight could be the night that boxing is surpassed in popularity by the original Mixed Martial Art Pay-Per-View competition, The Ultimate Fighting Championship!

Mixed Martial Arts competitions have already surpassed Boxing in respect to buzz and popularity this year.  On television, numbers are up in a big way for UFC events, and tonight, if the UFC manages to bring in it’s expected 1.2 million Pay-Per-View viewers, it will have surpassed boxing in the largest venue of them all, the Pay-Per-View arena!

It airs live on Pay-Per-View December 30th, 2006 on Bell ExpressVu 401 and 455/472 on DISH Network.  Who am I hoping will walk away with the belt?  Tito Ortiz of course!  Who do I think will win?  Probably Chuck.
