About three weeks ago I was completely fed up with my health. Getting sick every few months, dry skin, overweight, feeling tired and getting constant headaches. As a VP of Technology I'm in countless meetings every day, traveling all the time, eating out, attending parties, and basically working my body extremely hard. Motivating my team and finding the best people requires an enormous amount of energy, and I was feeling flat dead.
My weight had gone to 211 pounds in about 4 years from 175. After just two and a half weeks on the Alkaline Diet I am now at 182 pounds. I work out a maximum of 15 minutes a day. I guarantee if you have plateau in your workouts, are overweight, suffer from headaches, tired, or depressed, if you follow The Alkaline Diet, you will feel 10 years younger, and will not look back.
A few years ago, I bought a BowFlex, started going to the gym and working out, but I would drop 5 to 10 pounds, and still feel terrible. I would just sit at 200 pounds and there seemed to be nothing I could do. Although I have spent my whole life learning about my mind and how we can achieve amazing things if we set our minds to it, I had completely ignored my body and gotten to a state where, although I looked ok, I felt like I was literally rotting garbage.
In order to keep my energy up, getting up at 7am and going to bed at 2am some nights, I would drink countless amounts of coffee. Lunch time was fast so I would think I was eating healthy by going to subway and getting a veggie max. But most days involved a trip to one of the thousands of fantastic local restaurants in Winnipeg, and ordering whatever I felt like.
I tried other diets where I had to count calories, eat lots of protein, cut out carbohydrates, and workout 45 minutes a day. I would definitely lose weight, however it wasn't very sustainable, and at the end of the day, I would plateau, and no matter what I did, would not lose any more weight. On top of it all, I would still feel like garbage, still had cravings for coffee, sugars, alcohol, spaghetti, meat, eggs, bacon, and still walked around with low energy, unable to wake up easily in the mornings.
There had to be a better way, and there was, The Alkaline Diet

The Alkaline Diet is so simple to follow; it’s crazy that more of us do not eat this way. Eat alkalizing foods, avoid acidic foods. The main principle behind the diet is our body's pH level is slightly alkaline, ranging between 7.36 and 7.44. Therefore our diet should reflect this, and be rich in high alkaline foods, and low acidic foods. Just like the world is 70% water and 30% earth, our body's are 70% water and 30% matter. We therefore should try and eat a diet that is 70% alkaline foods, and 30% acidic foods.
Unfortunately our typical diets are highly acidic, and low in alkaline, causing our body's to scream for help! Your body will literally start storing body fat in order to protect its organs and save itself. It desperately tries to get rid of the toxins that grow in your body via this acidic state by causing dry skin for peeling, eczema, rashes, growths, and in the end, cancer or other terrible diseases.
I'm no doctor, but I was so sick and tired of going to doctors for pills, feeling worse year after year, I took my body into my own hands. I can not say a enough good things about he alkaline diet. I know obese people who have lost hundreds of pounds and feel great with it. Other people who are cancer survivors who swear by it. This book is really worth reading. Dr. Young's book on diabetes helped to change my life.

In most headaches, which hurt the nerves, blood vessels and muscles that cover the head and neck. Sometimes the muscles or blood vessels swell, tighten, or through other changes that stimulate the surrounding nerves or put pressure on them. These nerves send pain messages to the brain, causing headaches.

In general most grains, dairy products, meats, seeds, legumes and nuts tend to have an acid ash. Most fruits and vegetables tend to have an alkaline ash. Cooked foods tend to be more alkaline than raw foods. Many holistic practitioners believe that modern Western diets generally are too acidic for good health due to a lack of fruits and vegetables.
